As of June 1st 2016 Instagram changed their API policy. This has affected how you create Instagram Tags in the Kickdynamic platform. You now need to authenticate your Instagram account before you can create a Tag. Once the account is authenticated, you can create Instagram Tags as normal.

The new Instagram Tag creation wizard went live on Tuesday 3rd May. From this date the following applies:

- Existing Tags will update to the latest content until June 1st. After June 1st, if your account is not authenticated, we will show the latest cached version of the Tag as of midnight May 31st.

- You will not be able to create new Instagram Tags or edit existing Tags without authenticating your account.

How can I authenticate my account?

To authenticate your account please go to Accounts - Instagram Accounts. Click “+Add Account” and you will be taken to an Instagram log in screen where you can add your credentials to authenticate the account.

Once your account is authenticated it will appear in the 'Instagram Accounts' section in the account area of the platform.

When you are creating a Tag, you will see the option to choose an ‘Authorized Instagram Account’ in the creation wizard.

Click on the account you wish to generate the Tag for and work through the rest of the steps. The Tag will look the same as normal Instagram Tags.

What will happen to existing Tags that are in a live email?

From Tuesday 3rd May to June 1st 2016 existing Tags will update to the latest version at every open. From June 1st 2016, you will need to authenticate your account for existing Tags to work as normal.

If you do not authenticate your account, existing Tags will show the last Instagram images we have cached from May 31st at midnight. This Tag will not update to the latest version, but will show the cached image.

Can I create Tags if I don’t authenticate my account?

No. From Tuesday 3rd May, if you have not authenticated your account you will not be able to create any new Instagram Tags.

Can I edit existing Tags if I don’t authenticate my account?

No. From Tuesday 3rd May, if you have not authenticated your account you will not be able to edit any existing Instagram Tags.

What will happen if I don't authenticate my account after 29th April?

If you are unable to authenticate your account before June 1st, existing Tags will show the last Instagram images we have cached from May 31st at midnight. If you authenticate your Instagram account after this date, we will automatically start to show the latest images for all existing Tags.

Do you store the Instagram password?

No. Authentication is managed by an token issued by Instagram which means we do not know, or store at anytime, the Instagram account password.

What if someone changes the Instagram password will it stop working?

No. We only need to do the authentication once. If the Instagram account password is changed your account will still be authenticated and Tags will work as normal.

Can I use my templates as normal?

Yes, the default or your own customized Instagram templates can be used as normal once the Instagram account is authorized.

What happens if authorization is revoked?

If authorization is revoked, the last image that we have in out cache will be displayed. You can check whether authorization has been revoked in Instagram by navigating to settings and then 'Authorized Applications'.

If Kickdynamic have been granted permission, it should look like this:

If Kickdynamic is not visible in the Authorized Applications Tab it means that permission has been revoked.

To re-grant access, login to the Instagram account you wish to re-connect. In the Kickdynamic platform, navigate to the Account section and click on Instagram accounts. Click new account. The account will automatically re-authenticate.

To test that the re-authentication has been successful, create an instagram tag, checking that it uupdates with the latest images from the account.
